The Medical Officer will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients, supporting consultants, and ensuring the smooth functioning of clinical services. The role involves diagnosing, treating, and monitoring patients, maintaining accurate medical records, and assisting in hospital protocols and patient management.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a hospital or clinical setting (fresh graduates may apply for junior positions).
Additional Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow instructions of consultants carefully and properly.
- Send the test sample of patients immediately after admission.
- Frequently visit very sick patients and inform consultants about follow up.
- Regular follow-up of patients 3 times: in morning, evening and night.
- Directly contact lab for urgent reports.
- During round note the advice or suggestions of consultant.
- Document all follow-up findings in file of patients.
- Inform admin if any consultant fails to visit patients in a day or does not pick up phone after repeated calling.
- Contact duty manager for all admin support.
- Complete the history and examination sheet properly after receiving a new patient.
- Look for any previous documents especially for chronic cases and ask the attendants to bring those in hospital.
- Write fresh orders before and after round and after addition/deletion of medication.
- Check the medications carefully whether these are administered according to advice and in time and also check with the patients and monitor regularly.
- Be very careful about the spelling of medications and double-check these before administration.
- Update consultants with relevant information regarding patients’ health, medicines and investigations.
- Counsel the patients and attendants (where appropriate) regarding illness, tests and medications time to time.
- Document properly with date and time if any patient or attendant refuses to do any tests or refuse to take medicines or any kind of inappropriate behavior.
- Document any consultations with consultants over phone with time and date and also document if consultants are not available after several attempts.
- Hand over the responsibility to next duty doctor with relevant information.
- Keep your skill and knowledge up to date in all areas of work.
- Report the authority if there is any difficult situation.
- Respect your patients and colleagues and behave with them politely.
- Frequent follow-up of critical patients as required.
- After returning patient from post operative ward to indoor department (cabin or ward), patient follow-up information must be infromed instantly to respective consultant of the patient.
- Indoor medical officer will entry patient order sheet through EMR software.
Educational & Professional Requirements
- MBBS from a recognized medical university.
- Valid BMDC registration (mandatory).
